About Ed's Easy Diner

Eds Easy Diner are authentic 1950s-style American diners that are a perfect stop-off during or after a family day out in central London – just the ticket if you fancy fine burgers and fries or hot-dogs, sumptuous milkshakes and apple pie like mom used to make it.

While Eds Easy Diner has franchises on offer and has extended its influence to Chelsea and Covent Garden and even Kent, the hub Eds Easy Diner restaurants are at the London Trocadero on Rupert Street in Piccadilly Circus, which was first opened by Barry Margolis in November 1987, and at Moor Street, off Old Compton Street, in the heart of Soho’s theatreland.

Eds Easy Diner has its roots in post-war American culture and is a homage to all things stars and stripes, circa the era of Elvis and Marilyn. As a result, each Eds Easy Diner has become something of a family attraction in itself, boasting that classic retro décor of red leatherette banquette seats and a chrome counter where the clientele sit on high stools facing the bar. Indeed, it’s wall to wall shiny chrome and a cheerful red and white colour scheme throughout, making it a time tunnel to a happier, more carefree time, and bringing to mind a set from TV’s Happy Days or even Grease. In fact, the Eds Easy Diners have been used as a location for films, television and photo shoots on innumerable occasions, and TV and film stars have been know to pop in for a meal, so star-spotting comes as part of the ticket!

The rock’n’roll era vibe is further enhanced by original table-top Seeburg 100 Wallamatic juke boxes that operate with a 20p coin and provide a soundtrack of the 50s and 60s, with the emphasis on pre-Beatles tunes, when rock was really rebellious and a visit to the local diner was as radical as things got!

Eds Easy Diner in Soho was the first of its kind in the UK and it’s become as much a noted London landmark as the host of places to visit nearby on a family day out. In Soho, there are many theatres, cinemas, ancient churches and street markets, while Piccadilly boasts the Circus with Eros, nearby Trafalgar Square, the Royal Academy Of Art, The Mall, Admiralty Arch and the National Portrait Gallery. Eds Easy Diner is ideal for rest and relaxation after visiting any family attraction in the area, and diners can watch their food being prepared by Eds Easy Diner chefs working in open kitchens, either from a perch at the bar, or from one of the table booths.

Eds Easy Diner also provides plenty of space for families with wider aisles and buggy parks, thereby affording disabled access and making a family day out meal an attractive proposition for everyone.
